The Sustainability of Aviation Biofuels Is Key Ingredient for the Global Bioeconomy

CHICAGO – (July 1, 2021) — LanzaJet today announced it has joined The Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB).  The RSB unites a collective of businesses, NGOs, academics, governments, and UN organizations that help drive best practices for sustainable biomaterial, biofuels, and biomass production.  RSB and its members also promote bioproducts that enhance rural development, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and promote food security.

As a member of RSB, LanzaJet will contribute its expertise as a leader in sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and continue to advance a more sustainable aviation industry. They will also be able to access a global network of other market leaders to the continuous development of the RSB’s sustainability standard.

“Our membership in RSB is vital to our mission in helping the aviation industry transition to a more sustainable future,” Jimmy Samartzis, LanzaJet CEO, said. “It also reinforces our commitment to support other industries and find sustainable solutions to our world’s greatest challenges through collaborative partnerships.”

RSB’s membership community is a worldwide movement of businesses, NGOs, academics, government, and UN organizations that demonstrate their commitment to best practices for sustainable biomass, bio-products, and other biomaterials production.  Through networking opportunities and ongoing collaboration, RSB members drive business opportunities in the bioeconomy.

“As a member of the RSB community, we get to play a key role in shaping the future sustainability of the global bioeconomy,” said Samartzis. “Sustainable aviation fuel is the primary lever to decarbonize the aviation industry, and with the support of the RSB community, we are positioned to responsibly scale up production and distribution while supporting others in achieving our climate goals.”
